The Masks We Wear: Recognizing What’s Holding Us Back

We all wear masks. Some of us wear the mask of perfectionism — always striving, always trying to prove that we are enough. Others wear the mask of people-pleasing, saying yes when we mean no because we fear rejection. And many of us wear the mask of overachievement, hoping that our accomplishments will hide the parts of ourselves we’d rather no one see.
Masks can serve a purpose for a season. They help us survive. But over time, what once kept us safe starts to suffocate us. The truth is, behind every mask lives the real you — the one longing to breathe freely, to rest, and to be seen for who you truly are.
The first step in healing is awareness. We cannot heal what we are unwilling to name. At STRETCH, we’ll begin the work of identifying our masks, not so we can judge ourselves for wearing them, but so we can finally lay them down.
📝 Journal Prompt: Where am I pretending everything is fine when it’s not?
Healing begins with honesty. And honesty requires courage. Will you be brave enough to look at the mask you’re wearing?
