My dear sweet mother passed away on September 10, 2021, but the actual date on the death certificate is September 11, 2021, at 12:44 am. After trying to resuscitate her that Friday night, the paramedics were called and took over. They called it early Saturday at 12:44 am after an hour of their emergency care. I struggled with her death being September 11, 2021, with it a day that symbolizes so many other deaths. I wanted her to have a day of her own. Isn't that horrible? I didn't want her to share that day; she deserved a day just for her. She always brought light into the world; that day was so dark and bleak for our world. It is just so essential for me that her mention would invoke light and not dark.

As we all came out of COVID, many have experienced death. How do you continue life without someone that was so much a part of your life? Some used various coping mechanisms. Various coping mechanisms are used. I had a brief stint with alcohol. It had been over 15 years, and suddenly, I was trying to numb this excruciating pain. It didn't work.
“If you sit down and look for it from a different view, you will see light in the thickness of torential darkness and pain.” ~from my meditation journal after a year of Mom's death.
I had to will myself to do something different. With my mom's favorite song, "This Little Light of Mine," in my heart, I was determined to look for the light in my everyday life. I began to see it in the most unexpected places. Yellow was her favorite color, and it also began to appear in places that had been there all along. That was it! Her presence brought light into the world, which was my push out of the darkness. It was time to bring her light into my world again. No, it was time to recognize that her light had not been removed; I failed to see it. The best part was now I get to bring light into the world.
How can we bring light back into a dark world?
Light comes back when you show up in the form that you were made by GOD. #Presence
Light comes as the yellow flowers appear in the green bushes. #Joy
Light comes when you look into your partner's eyes and they smile. #Love
Light shines as you help a stranger who is shocked and in awe as you leave. #Kindness
Light shines during a moment of hefty laughter of an elder in your family. #Honor
Light shines as you witness the best parts of you in your children. #Family
Light shines as you notice that light and love are all around you. #Bright
